On My Mind

There’s one thing on my mind right now…

This guy is flying across the Atlantic tomorrow!! (Two exclamation points in a blog post is really something.)

As you can probably guess, I’m pretty damn excited. I’m excited because:

  • It’s been more than four months since I’ve seen him.
  • He’s pretty much the best guy in the whole world.
  • He’s bringing queso zamorano, my favorite cheese in the whole world.
  • He may or may not be bringing my favorite budget wine – Elías Mora.
  • He’s cute.
  • I love him.
  • There’s probably 1000+ more reasons, but right now I’m way too excited to go all in depth on you.
Anyway. I’m sure some of you have or have had a long distance relationship (otherwise known as an LDR). How did you survive? What was the reunion like?
Should I just kidnap him and never let him return?
(I’m seriously thinking about it.)

  1. I live with the Novpants, but since he’s in the military, he’s gone 4-5 months a year and it becomes LDR. I just keep myself busy, work on my relationships with others, and find project. My new project is the DELE. Barf.

    Have fun!!

  2. I feel like it was just last week that you were blogging/tweeting about him coming out. I’m sure the month didn’t fly by for you. It never does.

I never went more than 6 weeks without seeing my BF when he lived in NY. That sucked, but the airport hugs and reunions were always wonderful. I miss them a little now and sometimes we just hug for a several minutes even though we see each other all the time now.

Hope it’s a good visit and the wine and cheese is just as delicious as you remember it.

  3. That’s so exciting! I vote for kidnapping, definitely. I’m going to be starting a LDR in about a month (I’m moving back home and FBF is staying in France…) so I feel you. I’m not looking forward to it one bit. Have so much fun with Mario while he’s there!

  4. I am getting that thrilling feeling in my stomach for you!! :) The hardest part is wanting to hurry through the airport crowd to get to your love and trying not to get frustrated at the people who can’t seem to pick up the friggin’ pace! But as soon as you catch eyes with your love, everything melts and you truly are the happiest person in the universe…I know you know this feeling :) Have a splendid day and visit with your love <3 (Run and hug is totally appropriate…on lookers at the airport like me LOVE to watch couples do this..creepy… no.)

  5. Ahhhh so exciting! The day/night before is always the hardest part in my opinion; time seems to literally crawl. I was long distance for almost 3 years with the novio, I know how hard it can be!
The longest we went without seeing each other was 8 months… when I went to the airport to pick him up I was all nervous and had butterflies in my stomach! I do think that long distance definitely forces you to learn patience, appreciating the small things, and the art of communication. When you finally see each other it’s like all the time that separated you is suddenly erased.

Best of luck to the both of you and I hope you enjoy every second together :) And yes, kidnapping sounds like a great plan hehe

  6. I’m so happy for you! I went three months this summer without seeing the guy I was dating (only to have one week together before I left for Spain), and I was okay being apart because I kept busy, but the reunion was amazing. Best hug ever, and we instantly went back to the amazing chemistry we’d always had :)
