Back to the Start

Hey guys … Remember me? I’ve not been posting much lately, have I? Well, there’s a reason for that. A big one.

Mario and I have moved to the U.S.!

As you can imagine, we’re both really excited to see what this new stage in our life together has in store for us. The past year has been filled with bureaucracy. You thought Spanish bureaucracy was bad? I got news for you: you have no idea.

I’ll have more details soon, including our spousal visa timeline, but I would just like to thank all of you for reading. I kept the news on the down low for work reasons, although many people figured it out. And I promise, this blog isn’t ending! Just changing a bit. Mario might have some funny observations for you in the future.

St Patricks Day Spain USA

Celebrating his first St. Patrick’s Day in the U.S. by wearing a goofy beaded green tie.

Shout out to Betsy Transatlantically and C’est Moi, Sara Louise for their blog entries about visas and all the frustrations that go along with them—you really helped me out!

  1. Congrats! I look forward to hearing more about it all and how Mario is adjusting to life on the other side of the pond.

  2. Congrats! I kind of guessed it but glad to hear it’s true! Hope it wasn’t too terrible! I think we got incredibly lucky with the US government trying to hustle us out of the country which helped a lot (3 months start to finish for us)!

    Welcome back!

  3. Oh I’ve heard a little about spousal visas. A coworker recently got married to a guy from England and she talked a little bit about fiance visas and spousal visas and it made my head hurt. Congrats on you and Mario for surviving the ordeal and moving to the US! I know it’s something you’ve wanted for a long time. Are you planning on staying in Indiana?

  4. I LOVE this, I love Mario’s tie, and I can’t wait to hear his observations! So happy to have you back close! :)

  5. Wow—big news indeed, I had no idea. Congratulations!

Looking forward to hearing more about it, and what Mario thinks of living abroad so far. : )

  6. Great news! I know you have been wanting this for quite some and I cannot wait to read all about this new phase in both of your lives.

  7. You two are adorable. <3 I can't wait to hear the inverse observations Mario has about life in the U.S. Also cannot wait to hear where you are living and working!

  8. Congratulations on repatriating! I used to work in visa administration and those spousal visas are tough business. Looking forward to hearing Mario’s observations on the move and your thoughts on being back in the States!

  9. I already tweeted all my excitement emoji at you, but I’m seriously so emocionada for you two!! Can’t wait to hear Mario’s thoughts on our weird American quirks.

  10. Hi Kaley,
I have always love your blog because of certain reasons. First of all, because you are an amazing blogger and I love your entries so much! Second, because I´m from Zamora so it´s kind of touching that somebody writes about my little city!! In fact, I descend from a village next to Manzanal del Barco haha.
Now Mario should take over your blog some time to do an entry saying ~Un Zamorano en EEUU~. I am waiting for such an entry haha. I am currently living in London and it´s surprising how different it is, but at the same time it has a lot in common- maybe it´s because we aren´t so different, after all.
Os deseo lo mejor en esta nueva etapa y ya estoy deseando leer vuestras nuevas aventuras.
    Muchos besos para ambos!
